How luxury hotel properties must rise to the demand for sustainable tourism

Sustainable tourism has become a hot topic in recent years, and it’s not just backpackers and budget travelers who are interested in eco-friendly travel options.

According to a report by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, the sustainable tourism market is projected to grow by 6.7 percent annually from 2023 to 2028.

“Luxury hotels that invest in eco-friendly technologies, services, and products will be well-positioned to offer sustainable experiences,” added Nirav Akshay Oza, CEO of EFCEE Hotels – A Leela Worldwide Venture, in a recent interview.

Here are five key ways that luxury hotel properties are rising up to the demand for sustainable tourism:

  1. Sustainable building design
  2. Renewable energy sources
  3. Water conservation
  4. Waste reduction
  5. Supporting local communities
